NEW TO NEW UNDERWOOD COMMUNITY CHURCH?

Whether you have been following Christ for many years, or you are just now starting to feel a stirring in your soul and the desire for something more, we welcome you to join this branch of God's family. We come from all walks of life and range from infants to those who have great-grandchildren. Anyone earnestly seeking Christ, mildly curious, or reluctantly feeling compelled from something deep within is welcome!

THE BIBLE

We believe that the 66 canonized books of the Bible are the inspired Word of God, and that this Word of God is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness.

THE TRINITY

We believe that there is One True God, revealed to us in Scripture as three distinct persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Yeah, we get it that that is mind-blowing.

GOD THE FATHER

We believe in God the Father, who has eternally existed, is the Creator of all things, and is the Ancient of Days and the Holy, Righteous Judge, as well as being gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, and rich in love.

GOD THE SON

We believe in God the Son, eternal and immutable, who is the Lamb slain from the foundations of the world, come in the flesh to live a sinless life, pay the sin debt of all who will believe in His Name, conquerer of death, and returning imminently to redeem those who are His.

GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT

We believe in God the Holy Spirit, eternal and immutable, able to feel joy and grief. It is His role to indwell us, to restrain evil in the world, to seal us until the day of our redemption, and to convict the world concerning sin, righteousness, and judgment.

THE HUMAN CONDITION

We believe that man was created in the image of God, male and female, to reflect His glory and to worship Him, then fell because of sin. Becuase in Adam all have sinned, therefore death, both spiritual and natural, is the natural end of every person outside of Christ.

SALVATION

We believe that all humans have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and that the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, and that if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead, we will be saved.

BAPTISM

We believe in the believer's baptism as an outward sign of an inward working. Through baptism we signify and publically proclaim that we have died to sin and are alive in Christ, and that we desire to be held to a greater account by our brothers and sisters in Christ.

COMMUNION

We believe that the breaking of bread and drinking of the cup regularly is of vital importance for Christian fellowship and growth in Christ. It is a time of keeping short account with God, and of corporately remembering Christ's death until He returns.

THE CHURCH

We believe the Church, comprised of followers of The Way, is the Body of Christ, with a commission to share the good news of salvation with the world, and to disciple other followers as we all seek to grow into spiritual maturity.

MARRIAGE

We believe that God gave mankind the institute of marriage as a picture of how Christ redeems and loves His bride, the Church. For us, marriage also sanctifies us as we work the rough edges off each other, and, as God divinely dictates, marriage provides a solid foundation for the raising of godly offspring.

SINGLENESS

We believe that not all people are called to a life of marriage, but that some are called to the high calling of singleness. We believe that this calling provides a chance for people to dig more wholly into God and to live a life of completely undivided allegiance to Christ, and therefore should be honored in the same way we honor those called to marriage.

CHILDREN

We believe that it is imperative to the Church that we disciple children from the womb until launching in the fear and admonition of the Lord, teaching them of the freedom found in Christ and how to identify, reject, and combat the lies of the Enemy and of the world.

EVANGELISM

We believe it is our calling, no matter what our occupation or stage in life, to send or to take the good news of Jesus's death, resurrection, power over sin and death, and immenent return to all the nations of the world. Toward that end, we support missionaries and ministries home and abroad, and seek to share the Gospel with those God gives us in our lives.

IMMINENT RETURN OF CHRIST

We believe Christ will return bodily at a time of which no one but God the Father knows the day or the hour. As we wait, it is our job to be in His Word, in communion with other believers, and busy about His business until He returns. Maranatha!
